This tealight lantern derives its form from the shape of a light beam that spreads out. Two "light beams" - trapezoidal apertures wrap around a box creating two "empty" spirals and two "full" ones that intertwine creating a dynamic play between empty and full resulting to a constant change of the object’s form, depending on the angle from which one looks the object.
Also, when the candle is out the apertures are darker and the eye focuses on the full surfaces which are brighter, while when the candle is lit the eye focuses on the apertures which become brighter, thus giving the user a (false) sense of the form of the object to be reversed. As construction material 8mm thick Dionysus marble or 6mm thick birch plywood is chosen. In the case of marble, a saucer is optionally added so as the lantern to serve also as an essential oil burner, while in the case of plywood, a sandblasted glass. Dimensions 9x9x22.5cm.
