Led by an ongoing commitment to evolve its facilities, Ekies All Senses Resort has redesigned twelve rooms, both suites and guestrooms, adhering to its “eco-barefoot” philosophy. The design was orientated towards a sustainable concept that incorporates all surrounding elements of its local environment. While providing a holistic approach for the guests, functional spaces are created for long-term accommodation and all-day hosting during summer time. The redesigned rooms’ atmosphere has been inspired by the nearby sea caves which suddenly open to the blue light of water. A range of contemporary Greek artists’ works is hosted in the newly renovated rooms, enhancing the atmosphere of hand crafted design.
High aesthetics, simple forms, and clean lines are some of Ekies All Senses Resort fundamental characteristics that define its approach to architectural style and interior design. These principals are prominent at its newest renovation. The aim is to design relaxing and welcoming rooms based on natural elements, which at the same time work as a platform for the creativity of local and international artists. Therefore, unique local craftsmanship combined with international design objects and contemporary Greek artwork, create an inspiring place to stay, where wide views to the forest and authenticity enhance the essence of living in nature. A rationale of ‘less tech’ has been applied to the new suites, offering to the guests the opportunity to live the experience.
The handcrafted rooms’ materiality is a combination of the mosaic floor, made with Halkidiki stone and pebbles, the concrete roof and textured marble bathrooms, highlighted by galvanized surfaces. The poetic brutality of the area’s rocks is underlined by the hand-crafted surfaces, while the cave-like interiors get softened by natural light. The rooms host large photographs, oil paintings and artworks, the sleeping area is ornamented with green and deep blue velvet, while parts of the room are composed of textured clay. The metallic partitions shine gently while reflecting the interior. The desks are made with raw marble, straight from the quarries of Thasos and Kavala, and the hand-beaten iron furniture is custom made by local metalworkers.
