Located on the Southeast coast of Cyprus island, overlooking the Larnaca City Bay, Radisson Beach Resort is a brand-new five-star resort with 202 comfortable rooms and spacious suites, with direct view of the Mediterranean Sea. The Resort is a Π-Shape design with the main ten storey building in the middle with a panoramic glass elevator and two storey annex buildings on each side, enclosing centrally the main swimming pools and gardens situated in different levels. The annex buildings features variety of swim- up pool rooms and garden rooms. On the north side of the building, where the main entrance is located, a huge, curved cantilever emerges, inviting the visitor to enter and explore the Resort’s magical world. The circulation corridors to the rooms can be seen behind the curtain glass facade covering all the floors of the building, while a large green garden on the 4th floor emphasizes the environmentally friendly building and landscape design.
At the edge of the Resort, and just next to the beach is the ‘Waves’ beach bar & restaurant, a covered timber stage which can accommodate a variety of events. Two more additional restaurants and a bar are located on the main building and are inspired by the Mediterranean Cuisine and Local Colours and Aromas, Two Conference Rooms, a Ballroom/Multipurpose Room, and a Spa with an indoor swimming pool complete the Resort amenities.
The concept of Nature has been used throughout the exterior, interior and landscape design, execution, and details of the Resort, with focus on the Location, Orientation, the view towards the sea and the internal garden/landscape from most of the rooms and common areas. Natural/ Organic forms are wrapping around the main building creating on different levels the balconies of the guestrooms and the outdoor areas of the restaurants.
The 900sq.m of wavy photovoltaic roof which is covering the two annex buildings serves the purpose of producing electricity, and at the same time is camouflaging the AC/ air ducts machinery etc. It manages to become an icon/symbol of the solar use awareness and the sensitivity we should have towards the environment.
Natural, sustainable, durable materials and finishes of the building like wood, WPC, marble, concrete, and linen fabrics, glass and natural wicker for the Interiors, have been used throughout the areas of the Resort. A selection of custom designed pieces, from furniture, light fittings, partitions, timber ceilings, give emphasis to the functionality and flexibility of the spaces, good acoustics, creating at the same time a well-balanced aesthetic for a building next to the nature-sea.
Bespoke artwork (paintings, sculptures, and installations) is created by local artists who are inspired by the Resort’s surroundings, landscape, and seascape, to compliment the narrative of the Resort.
The architectural design, the landscape and interior design of the project has been done by the FLUID Architecture office in 2018, while the implementation of the project took place between 2018-2022, under the difficult conditions of the pandemic. The total cost is estimated at around 37 million euros.
