Canaves Oia Suites is located in the traditional settlement of Oia, on the edge of the volcanic rocks. It consists of cascading cave suites with private courtyards, which, due to the large height difference, gives the feeling of an open terrace with views towards the Caldera and the Aegean Sea.
The rich typology of suites offers options for all needs, providing different spatial qualities, comforts and possibilities. Each room welcomes guests to enjoy the magnificent sunset that the Cycladic location is best known for. Particular emphasis is placed on the privacy of each suite's outdoor relaxation area around the pool, which is placed on the edge achieving a visual integration of the liquid elements.
Embracing the sophistication of contemporary minimalism, design eschew exaggeration creating a sensitive balance between richness and restraint. Interiors are adorned by a simple approach with Cycladic references, such as built-in furniture and whitewashed walls. Moreover, a cooling color palette of shades of white highlighted by notes of gray and black, stimulating the reflection of the Santorini’s volcanic nature. Evidence of traditional architecture merges with contemporary tints, attaining a profound continuity of time, as well as a graceful coexistence of the prime and the modern.
In the exterior, the extensive use of timeless materials such as marble and pebbles compose a space of high aesthetics as the mint colors achieve continuity with the raw landscape. All the selected elements are characterized by a unique aesthetic that follows the Cycladic lines, while the soft monochromatic palette of the materials gives calmness and peace to the space.
The lighting proposal was based on the creation of a uniform diffusion of light in each space, with elements of point accentuation on selected elements such as the bathroom, thus giving an atmospheric effect to the space.
