Vanoro Hotel is housed in a fully renovated building of 1937, in the heart of the historic center of Thessaloniki. It has been designated as a Work of Art by the Ministry of Culture, due to its design influences from the Art Deco and Expressionism movements. The renovation of the building has led to the creation of a unique five-star city hotel that offers modern rooms, suites and special amenities to local, national and international visitors, as well as business travelers.
Back in 1937, a state-of-the-art six-storey building was erected to incorporate the Gabriloglou tobacco warehouse. The construction was as impressive as it remains to this day, a representation of the art deco of that time. We look beyond that. The site used to be the place, where top quality luxury products were manufactured and shipped, from Europe to Eastern and North America.
This very building was the beginning of a brand new world unfolding in front of us. Wonderful days, full of energy and ambition. The tobacco warehouse closed its doors in 1960. However, as we all know, buildings that acted as a trademark like this one, were made to be revived. When the appropriate moment presented itself, we jumped right at the opportunity. The forty-five luxurious rooms and suites have been designed with a relaxed tone, attention to detail, an earthy palette of colors, natural wood, elegant minimal furniture and industrial touches, presenting a luxurious and warm alternative to the conventional life of the big city.
The architectural drawings, structural study, as well as the supervision of the challenging task of converting the preserved building into a luxury hotel, were carried by the company P_FOUR Property Services, in 2019. The erection of the building started in 2020 and it was concluded in 2021. The construction company was Decon Development & Construction. Electrical and mechanical research was assembled by B.C.EN Private Company. Fire Protection study was made by Vasilios Pistofidis.
The rooms aim to maximize space and minimize any potential stress. This is achieved with sound insulation, large and comfortable beds, smart storage spaces, luxurious desks, modern bathrooms, as well as floor to ceiling windows that minimize the need of artificial lighting. In the center of the building, two atriums were created, in order to further enhance the natural lighting and the feeling of freedom within the construction.
The ground floor of the hotel accommodates the elegant and modern restaurant ANZA Kitchen & Bar. In addition, the basement houses a gym, a sauna, a jacuzzi and a massage area, which offer a complete experience to the guests. Finally, the conference room of the hotel is the ideal place for important meetings, professional conferences and corporate events.
